Any other pregnant women out there not eating as healthy as they would have hoped to?

by admin on July 23, 2010

I’m already half way through my pregnancy and looking back I find that I haven’t been the best when it comes to eating healthy. I always have a super healthy breakfast and a healthy mid morning snack. I eat ok for lunch and then I find myself eating badly at dinner or after dinner. Anybody else not meeting their healthy eating goals while pregnant? I feel so bad for not eating the best I can but I just can’t resist Key Lime Pie at times!

Haha you and me both hunny! I have always been a healthy eater. But when I got pregnant, I was sick the first 10 weeks. The only thing I could keep down was instant potatoes and easy mac lol. Then when the nausea went away I tried to go back to healthy eating again and none of those foods were good to me anymore. I tried. I still eat a good breakfast and a healthy mid morning snack, but lunch EVERYDAY is a can of spagettios, raviolis or beefaroni. Then I eat chips or something in the afternoon and dinner is just junk every night cuz my husband is the anti veggie lol. I hope this baby comes out alright.

I am the same way. I am in my first trimester and with the nausea I just can’t seem to eat the way I really want to. But the same thing happened with my first pregnancy and I had a healthy beautiful baby girl. Don’t be too hard on yourself. Best of luck to you.

Oh my goodness! I had a craving for cheeseburgers layered with fries. Don’t worry. As long as you’re getting your nutrients throughout the day (and taking your prenatals), you’ll be fine with a binge of pie every now and then.

as long as you incorporate a little fruit and veggies and take your prenatal all should be well;)

I’ve been eating terribly! 24 weeks along and still battling morning sickness, I honestly eat whatever sounds good. Today it was 1/2 a veggie burger, a few fries, and a few bites of a luscious cherry cake! I feel so bad for not eating enough fruits & veggies, but I just can’t stomach them!

I wouldn’t worry too much about what you’re eating as long as you are taking your vitamins and your weight gain is okay.

My man got laid off so we don’t have much money so I’m not eating all the veggies I should b/c they are expensive. But I do take my vitamins everyday. I hope that helps.

I have not done well either! I due in less than a month. I cant help it sometimes though I just get sooooo hungry. But I think what has saved me from gaining so much is that I throw up everything! I’m carrying really high so everything get pushed out of my stomach. Just keep doing the best you can and don’t eat fried or fast food and I think you will be ok.

I lost my taste for breakfast foods, so yeah, I was eating pizza rolls for breakfast sometimes…even a burger (it’s all I could do).

It’s not a terrible thing to indulge every now and then…my doctor told me it’s ok to give in to my cravings sometimes. I didn’t eat a cake everyday, but I would have a shake every now and then. :)

u r doin better than i did with my 1st i had a chippy nearly every day for dinner and it wasn’t till after i had my son that i regretted it. i had a healthy lunch and ate loads of fruit and veg but always failed at dinner time.this time i have been better but still i had had the odd take away or even just a bigger portion i think that mums should b aware of what they eat while they are preg but also relax just cant help those craving and over 66% of woman crave un healthy food when they are pregnant. as long as you keep up your vitamins and fiber iron etc u will b fine. don’t worry and good luck with your pregnancy. im cravin choc like mad cnt go a day without a bar!

I hear ya girlfriend! There have been many times where I’ve sat back and wondered the same thing! I do the opposite too – sometimes there are days where I just am not hungry. I’ll force food down but ugh it’s a battle! My mother-in-law reassures me things are fine, and my mom tells me she was prescribed a can of beer for sciatica. They both go on to say that "Women have been having babies for CENTURIES.." and that reminds me that we are all human and we’re going to make the babies our body’s intended to do. I still ask the question now and again though because let’s face it, we wonder these things! As long as you don’t have McDonalds all day everyday I think you’re all set ;) Swing in a fruit and veggie to make yourself feel better, that always works for me. What else is good is the smoothies at Dunkin’s! Sure they have sugar but so doesn’t key lime pie! And so what! Just be careful, you’ll know what’s best :)

I just had my third child a month ago and i ate alot during that pregnancy i was like you i could eat healthy all up until after lunch but i tried to go for a walk every afternoon and it seemed to help a little but i guess we are pregnant so i don’t think it matters that much as long as your prepared to loose the weight afterwards
