What are some personal tricks that you have for dieting that help you stay on the diet better?

July 29th, 2010 5 comments

any that you’d like to share? Anything that makes dieting easier for you? any foods that fill you up and help with cravings?

Just wondering. I’ve been on a 1500 calorie diet for a week and a half and i’ve been sticking to it. and i’d like to keep on it. what are some things that make it easier on you and help you stay on your diet?

what works for me is if i cant eat it on my diet i don’t buy it and its not sitting in the house. if i know i have to drive to the store get it come home cook it or just eat it it will discourage me from wanting it.

Pop Corn fills my cravings. as well as juices made from vegetables and fruits that been run through a juicer. coffee with no sugar or cream/milk added fills my cravings for pop just don’t drink a lot of it! and of course 8 cups of water a day.

Another thing for me is hobbies since your a girl i cant really suggest any but i do time consuming projects like Chain male, 15Th century medieval armor. and also electronic repairs/mods. work over time at work. just things to keep you busy that don’t involve food.

along with a balanced healthy diet you should go to the gym! then you will see results a bit faster. I have seen a lot of people that have not seen any results in the first 2 weeks and give up and go back to what they were doing before. dieting alone is not enough to see results fast. More results you see that happier you will feel the more u will stick to the diet.

also sleeping has a part in loosing weight as well a full 8 hours will help melt the fat away. not sleeping the full 8 hours a night will not give your body the time it needs.

i also set goals when i loose 10 pounds ill go to an all you can eat Chinese restaurant and pig out. for my reward BUT only once and at every mile stone. you cant expect to be on a diet everyday of your life or it will seem daunting and discouraging!
Good luck!

What are some good diets and exercises that will make my stomach flat and possibly give me a 4-pack?

What are some good diets and exercises that will make my stomach flat and possibly give me a 4-pack?

Walk, go up and down of stairs. Plus buy you an exercise ball but make sure buy the correct one for your height. On the diet
side start with small portion on any given meal and avoid fatty
foods, sugary treats. You got to walk every other day and on the alternate day use the exercise ball but follow the instruction. you got to work for long term results. Once you lose your belly fat, the four pack or or six pack will appear. Just don’t over do it and take your social life. You got to walk at least 30 -45 minutes every other days and do the same for exercise ball. If you do more than an hour of exercise a day before you know it you will give up. Just spread the exercise time to get the the effect to last longer . You got to get your metabolism up to burn the excess fat. You should lose one 1lbs per week that way you will be committed. See a dietitian and your DR. First

Do I have to get a meal plan in college?

July 29th, 2010 8 comments

Do I need a meal plan or are there alternate sources of obtaining food? I mean I don’t want to pay for food I might not eat and I’m trying to save college money for books and extra college courses. Are there other sources of food that I can get around or off school campus? If so are they more expensive because they are close to a University?

Many colleges force you to get a meal plan if you are dorming your freshman year. So you don’t have much of an option there.

If you’re not required to get one, then see if you can talk to people at the school during orientation. They’ll be the best people to ask about the food at your specific school.

In most schools you can always add a meal plan anytime during the semester. If you’re not dorming, don’t worry about it! Food on college campuses tends to be VERY expensive. Sometimes the food is good but sometimes it’s horrible! Also, you can pay with cash on campus! I know people who do this. If you don’t think you want a meal plan, this may be the way to go.

Finding food off campus depends on your school. If you’re out in the boonies, no, you won’t find restaurants. If you’re in a major city, then of course you can find food!

what are some healthy eating habits?

July 29th, 2010 5 comments

i’ve notced latley my family has been eating out acouple of times, i want us to start eating healthier so my baby can learn good habits, im a vegetarian but my husband is not.
what are some reciped that are healthy but that taste good, and are baby friendly also. i have a two year old, he’s not picky about food. and some deserts also, that are low in calories my husband has a bit of a sweet tooth.

Nothing like a good garden salad. I was suprised at all the nutritious things you can incorporate into a salad to make it taste great.

Im a health finatic and here are some ideas to put in a salad from a magazine:

Almonds: high in magnesium (fights colon cancer) + 20+ anti oxidants with almond skin

Spinach and watercress: Vitamin A and lutien: antioxidants that protect eyesight. Iron in the spinach helps make red blood cells in babies and adults

Raspberries, blackberries mango: Vitamic C, helps body absorb iron from spinach

Others include: Black beans (fibre, antioxidants) Feta cheese (calcium) Avocados (Monosaturated fat and vitamin E) Tomatoes (Lycopene, cancer protection) Bell peppers (vitamin C) Kale (Loaded with iron, Vit C and beta-carotene)

Hope that helps, and as for desserts there are some great sorbets and ice milk bars that taste great and are low in calories 🙂

Are there any good diet/low calorie recipe books?

Are there any good diet/low calorie recipe books?

I’m 14 years old and I’m gonna lose about 50 pounds. I’m 4’11 and a whooping 140 pounds. I’m doing a lot of excersizing but I need low calories recipes!

PLEASE!!!!!!! Thank you!

Hi,

You can lose 10-25 pounds in one month… safely. Just follow these rules. There are also several recipe books and recipes on her web site.

I lost 92 pounds, down from 325 lbs. The first week I started eating this way I lost 8 pounds… but it was probably because I was so big to begin with.

The rules are…
Food group 1
Fats, meats, oils, cream, butter

Food group 2
Veggies (no avocado or potatoes or carrots, these turn immediately to sugar when they hit your saliva).

Food group 3
Carbohydrates, rice, pasta, potatoes, non fat milk.

Food group 4
Fruit, eat only in the morning, on an empty stomach, about an hour before breakfast, not after. Don’t eat it at night.

Rule… eat anything from group 1 with anything from group 2.
Rule… eat anything from group 2 with anything from group 3.
Rule… Do NOT eat group 1 with group 3.
Rule… No soda, caffeines, whole milk, yogurt, avocados, bananas all of these have fat and carbos so when you want to lose weight don’t eat them. Afterwards you can.

Picture this in your head, insulin from your pancreas is secreted, to help digest sugars, and anything digested with it will be ‘stored’ as fat. So if you want the pasta and bread, don’t have the butter or oil or meat, instead have a marinara tomato sauce, or sauted veggies with garlic, no oil or butter with carbos… remember.

I hope this helps and if you need any help on this let me know. I will be glad to help.

What is the difference between the slimfast diet and the cambridge diet?

July 29th, 2010 2 comments

I want to do 3 slimfast meals a day (no evening meal), isn’t that like the cambridge diet or lighter life diet? It works because you don’t have to think about food at all.

My sister tried Slimfast and lost a little weight but she couldn’t afford the food/drinks. She went on a low carb diet called Kimkins and lost 70 lbs. in 5 months. It’s like Atkins but cheaper.

I just had a sandwich: brown bread; egg-and-sardine; fresh tomatoes; cheese. Is this healthy eating?

I’m on a weight-loss programme. And this radical departure from my usual lunch of rice and meat, or salad, (with too much mayo/cream) has been scrapped for this one. Am I going ok? Please advise. Thanks!!

sounds healthy but just dont smell your breathe!

Is unintentional weight loss not actually due to dieting something to worry about?

July 26th, 2010 3 comments

I am not trying to lose weight. I am not dieting. I don’t notice anything different in my eating habits.

Yes. Unintentional weight loss can be from anything from a thyroid disorder (hyperthyroidism) to diabetes.

My brother had lost 15 lbs in 3 months and was not on any diet. He had Hodgkin’s Disease. He is cured and feeling healthing.

Any unexplained weight loss needs to be presented to your doctor. He will run the appropriate blood work and other tests to rule out any disorders.

Another cause of unintentional wt. loss is Depression.

What are some diets that actually work?
