How do I lose belly fat in 2 weeks without dieting?

March 31st, 2011 7 comments

I am only 13 and I want to lose a handful of tummy fat before spring break in two weeks. How do I do that without dieting?
Could I adjust my meals? Some examples of six meals instead of 3? Anyone?

jogging is an excellent exercise because it let you lose weight
evenly throughout your whole body. If you want to lose weight in
specific areas, you should target them with exercises. If they are
your problem areas, they will be very difficult to tone. You will have
to work double on them. The best approach is this:
1. Lower/control your daily calorie intake (control for normal
weight, lower for overweight).
2. Run/jog to lower your overall body fat percentage.
3. Target your problem areas with exercises.
an excellent exercise, you can do it in front of your TV: sit on a
stool, and put your toes under something (piece of heavy furniture,
for example). In your hands hold a little dumbbell. Please, make sure
that it is not very heavy, start with one kilo, for example, or you
will damage your back and spine! Slowly move the upper part of your
body back, until it’s parallel with the ground. Stop for a second and
move it back to the sitting position. Repeat ten times. Every week add
to the number of repetitions. You will see the results in a week,
guaranteed! You will see or feel under the fat – if you have any – six
pack and muscles. Dumbbells do wonders. Much better than these
crunches – I came up to three hundreds and there was no results AT
ALL. With the dumbbells you will see it in a week.

What are some inexpensive weight loss centers?

March 31st, 2011 2 comments

I have been researching different options of weight loss centers(Jenny Craig, Weight Watchers, Nutrisystem, LA Weight Loss) They are all quite expensive. Weight Watchers being the least. Does anyone know of any that do not cost too much money but are still effective and provide support?

You don’t need weight loss centers to lose weight, all you need is some discipline to stay on a proper diet, and exercise. Just burn more calories than you take in and you will lose weight as you progress..

And exercise can be as simple as jogging, anything that will get your heart to beat fast and make you sweat.

The Thoughts of our Desires

March 30th, 2011 14 comments

24th August – 3rd September: The Thoughts of our Desires.

Melbourne, Florida.

Part 1

Time at Seacamp finished and I am happy in the purest form. What I have been craving for months is finally here. Angela and Carolyn – two friends of mine from work, who left a few weeks early – came down on a Friday night to pick me up, as I was to stay with Angela for a few days – a deal we had made during the period of the two weeks she had been away – at least five letters must have been sent back and forth arranging this – there were no stones left unturned. Angela is a girl who lifts me up good and she is a real looker too. Long silky legs that never end and I hope they don’t. Anyway, I had a great time down there for those last few days, then we all headed back up to Melbourne where they all lived and went to college. Monica – a girl I had never met – came with them – a friend of Carolyn’s. A real go getter; quiet and polite as a mouse, but stick on some music with a pulse and she’ll tear you apart and make you feel alive at the same time. I sat in the back of the car with Angela watching Monica moving energetically and sometimes abrasively in the passenger seat, rocking the whole car sometimes as we drove on the through the state.

We were all happy – world waiting, rushing underneath our feet – felt like I was getting in some good miles and experience with every passing food store. Journey all told was a little over five hours, but feeling like less because for the last two holding Angela’s hand, playing with them, teasing and tricking them, laughing hard, fully belly laughs that hurt the stomach, give them a real workout. It was this time spent in the back of the car that made me realise how I openly wanted love Angela, but I wasn’t sure of her wants. The fingers slinked in mine gave me hope.

Well, hop de hop, we embraced that night after a hearty meal of rice and vegetables, cooked up ourselves, no fuss but tasted delicious. Washed down with wine and beer; perfect night in our eyes.  Both inexperienced, willing to learn, acting like pros – we were good, so we thought, and two bodies that whistle the same tune are telling truths not lies.

Slept hardly any that night, lay there warm and cozy against Angela – who slept more than me, and apologised for waking her, but she said not to apologise, but did anyway and she laughed and that was when I knew – in the darkness, feeling her form, listening to her breaths, that I was smack bang in the middle of it. Morning came harsh to weary and wine soaked eyes and realised I should have picked up a pack of coffee in the store yesterday. Up at seven, breakfast of Lucky Charms (something I had failed to track down for years) and we watched television and by this time it was eight thirty and the sun was illuminating the room and shadows appeared on the furniture and we got in the car and headed over to Angela’s college, a stop off for a semester she says to get in to her major. I waited up at the library on the second floor as she went to class, did some reading on the Ancient Egyptians and the Pharaohs. Egypt were dependent on the scribes, who formed part of the literary movement and held the key to power – information. An honoured profession, writing being an invention of the scribe god Thoth, he of the Ibis head – and my head was feeling glad, not tired, but thirsty for love and knowledge of it all!

Time flew by and at late morning we were headed over to her mum’s house to pick up some bar stools to put in Angela’s apartment – turned out the stools look mighty fine and it was a good deal. Had lunch of Pizza. Greeted by an overly friendly, eagerly tippy kind of guy, but he was a nice guy and so one couldn’t get too mad for not giving us two seconds in peace. The meal was good and with our freshly seasoned stomachs we went to look at the pet store and on the way back, both feeling tired and satisfied – hardly spoke any on the journey, but no need; we were both thinking similar thoughts – I am pretty sure of that. Made plans for the evening to have dinner at Carolyn and Monica’s place – pasta dinner, we made the salad and brought it round. Also made plans for the two of us. I want to make love to you she said. And it was the most glorious sentence of my life. Tonight I said, kissing her and clutching and clawing at her back, pushing her against the frame of the bedroom door, both fully clothed and fully aroused. But we can go through it together, you know, step by step, yeah? – because I wanted us to learn and move in sync and know exactly the thoughts of our desires. It will be perfect, she said to me between kisses and I was sure that was true.

And though we never did make love – she said she was still hurting from last night and I apologised and she sincerely told me it was a “good hurt” and I believed her – we were in her bedroom for an hour, naked, pushing against each other stroking kissing biting pulling everything good and I smiled and she did and we laughed sometimes, not knowing why, but laughing nonetheless. And my it was a perfect night and we both fell into a deep dreamless sleep and wow and wow and wooweee!!!!!!!

6 Tips for a Healthy Holiday Weight Loss

March 30th, 2011 6 comments

Hibernating may be a natural impulse during the winter months, but it will not help you lose weight. Most people think they can eat more because it is the big sweater time of year, but what happens when the sun breaks through the clouds in April? Even though it is easier to bundle up and succumb to the allure of comfort food, weight loss requires extra effort during the winter months.

This season is fast approaching and in order to achieve your weight loss goals, you must begin preparing now. Resist the urge to hibernate and take stock in your ability to make a difference in your health this year. Come spring, you’ll be happy you did. Here are 6 tips to get you started in your Holiday Weight Loss plan of action.

Holiday Weight Loss Tips #1. Take Inventory
What foods fill your kitchen cupboards in the winter that you know will prohibit you from sticking to a healthy weight loss plan? Egg nog? Hot chocolate? Fatty soups? Christmas cookies? Candy canes? Write down these foods and prepare to leave them out of your grocery cart. It is bad enough you will be tempted to eat forbidden foods at holiday parties, so you do not need them readily available for you around the clock in your home.

Holiday Weight Loss Tips #2. Venture Outside
Cold air can be invigorating if you give it half a chance. Winter provides opportunities to engage in activities that only come around once a year. Do not miss out on them just because you are afraid fo getting cold. Exercise is an important component of healthy weight loss, so dust off the ice skates, snowshoes and sleds. Besides the workout benefit, the outdoors offers exposure to sunlight, the all-natural mood booster.

Holiday Weight Loss Tip #3. Winter Projects
Need something to keep your mind off eating in front of the television every night? Think of a major project that you have been putting off that you can spread out over the span of the entire winter. Plan out something you can do each and every day that will eventually lead to you finishing before the springtime. The more active you are, the more calories you burn and the less likely you will raid the refrigerator out of boredom.

Holiday Weight Loss Tip #4. Warm Up With Tea
Instead of warming yourself up with an expensive fatty latte with whipped cream ever day this winter, think green tea! Not only is it full of powerful anti-oxidants that will keep you healthy, just one cup a day can burn up to 80 calories! It has also been shown that green tea speeds up your metabolism. Do yourself a favor this winter and stock your cupboard full of this drink instead of trendy high-calorie hot chocolate drinks.

Holiday Weight Loss Tip #5. Omit Alcohol
One of the biggest enemies of heathy weight loss is alcohol, and winter is a time of year full of parties and social gatherings. Not only will alcohol give you added calories that you do not need, it blocks your mental focus that is necessary for living a healthy lifestyle. Pace your drinking at holiday parties by having a seltzer or sparkling water in between red wine. You’ll stay sober and cut your alcohol in take at the same time.

Holiday Weight Loss Tip #6. Supplementation
Winter is a great time to begin an all-natural vitamin and mineral supplementation program to lose weight in a healthy way. Colds and flu viruses run rampant in this time of year, so getting your body as healthy as it can be will only accelerate your weight loss efforts. Not sure what program to start? There are many choices out there, so make sure your the one you choose comes with a money-back guarantee if you do not get results.

No matter what obstacles you face during the winter season, remember that the key to a healthy weight loss is living a healthy lifestyle. People who remain thin and healthy are usually always active, and they make healthy eating choices most of the time they sit down at the dinner table. Although the winter may seem long and cold, springtime will appear before you know it. Think about how good you want to look in that swimsuit, and use the off season to reach your goal so you can enjoy it in time.

Eating Healthy on Vacation

March 30th, 2011 5 comments

It can be very tempting to abandon your good sense

of healthy eating on vacation. Although you may

strive for healthy eating, it’s easy to drift off

and grab an ice cream cone here and there. There

are however, ways to watch what you eat on

vacation.

It’s easier than ever these days to request a low

fat or vegetarian meal on airplane flights. If

you choose to instead drive to your destination,

the quest to find healthy food can get a bit more

complicated.

Rather than simply relying on greasy foods for

nutrition, pack some nutritious foods in a cooler

full of ice packs. Fruits and vegetables, crackers,

yogurt, and sandwiches are all great to have with

you on the road.

Once you arrive at your hotel, you should do

yourself a favor and turn the mini bar key down – as

this helps to avoid the temptation. If your hotel

offers a continental breakfast, stick to fruits,

cereals, and proteins. If your hotel has a stove

or microwave, consider bringing your own healthy

food with you.

If you simply must eat out, do so only when you

are hungry. Restaurants will usually serve large

portions, so be careful. If you do go a bit over

on a meal, simply cut back on the next.

If you find it hard to fit in three square meals

a day, try to fit in six smaller meals or snacks,

as your body needs fuel every four hours or so.

When you eat out, avoid appetizers. Whatever you

do, do not miss any meals.

When it’s possible, you should avoid eating large

meals at night. When your body gets ready for

sleep and slows down, it also burns calories at a

much slower pace. Never eat bread before bed, and

make sure to avoid the butter. Choose fish or

poultry for your meal instead, and include

vegetables as a side dish.

Even though it may sound hard, eating healthy on

vacation isn’t really that difficult. All you have

to do is use a little will power, and pass up

foods that you know aren’t good for you. This

way, you’ll enjoy healthy eating and a healthy

lifestyle wherever you go.

The next time you go on a vacation, always remember

that eating healthy is a way of life. You can

afford to get something you crave, although you

shouldn’t make a habit of it. One ice cream

cone or a pizza isn’t going to matter – as long as

you know when to stop.

Super Anti-inflammatory Foods

March 30th, 2011 1 comment

Your joints is an engineering masterpiece designed to perfection, so much that us humans are constantly trying to copy the this intricate design. Our body has various signals to indicate the condition of our joints. When there is swelling it sends out signals which we feel as pain. Sometime things get a little serious like chronic inflammation which leads to serious conditions sometime it can go to the extent of being life threatening like cancer and heart disease.

Various factors are identified as contributing factors to inflammation. Researchers associate the degree of inflammation to factors like the amount of stress you go through, your lifestyle, the activity – rest cycle and most importantly the quality and quantity of food you put into our body. When all the above mentioned factors are present in various proportions, the cumulative effect will lead to greater chances of the disease.

As we age our body doesn’t function as efficiently as it used to and we are more prone to injuries and most importantly the ability of the body to heal is also affected. Even the most strongest of us can be affected because this reduced efficiency of the body. Our body is naturally equipped to combat inflammation to certain levels beyond which the conditions goes on deteriorating. Initially body will send out the pain signal and when ignored constantly it goes to severe inflammation mode and with this imbalance other problems creep up as well.

There are things which are beyond our control but good news is that the major contributing factor is within our control, which is our diet. One of the most effective ways is to pursue natural ways to fight inflammation as opposed to other treatment options like drugs, steroids and in extreme case surgery.

Key to Controlling Inflammation

It’s a no brainier that you are what you eat and the you eat will affect the way our body functions. Even though it’s a known fact sometimes we fall prey to the temptation. Surprisingly it’s the food which tastes really good are our worst enemies. Lets say sugary foods, fatty meat especially red meat salty foods add to this our answer to the quest for convenience – the so called processed foods which is like adding oil to fire when it comes to inflammations but also instigate other health problems, the most noted being obesity. When you are over weight, you put more stress on your joints leading to greater chances of inflammation. The key is to break this habit or craving and incorporate whole food into your diet. Below is a list of food to watch out for

Inflammatory foods

Sugary Foods
Deep Fried Foods
Dairy Foods
Alcohol
Caffeine

Now for the good list, bear in mind that this is only a guide , try to vary the combinations so that you don’t get bored with the diet and don’t the mistake to cut the bad foods straight out, you will crave for it later and then in give in to the temptation.

Anti-inflammatory foods
Green Tea
Ginger and turmeric (very good for inflammation
Salmon and other fatty fish like mackerel
Fruits and Vegetables – Aim for five colors
Water
Nuts
Fruit Juice

Use the above list as guide and to keep it simple , remember to keep away from FASS ( fats, alcohol, salt, sugar). Have more anti inflammatory foods and you will be pain free naturally.

Low Carb Diets Don’t Work

March 30th, 2011 3 comments

Atkins sets a “twenty grams of carbs daily” rule which can only come from fibrous rich food sources such as vegetables. You can fool people in the short term with a clever marketing campaign, but not in the long-term.

The current Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA) for carbohydrate is a minimum of 130 grams per day, with most people eating well over 200 grams per day.

Carbohydrates are the foundation of diets world wide. Carbohydrates — including bread, pasta, rice, cereals, milk, most fruit and any sweets — usually provide over half of people’s daily calories.

Most Low Carb diets work in the beginning, usually because the suggested eating regimens help you cut calories in one way or another. The underlying reason why diets (including Low Carb diets) work is that they result in decreased caloric intake.

The National Strength and Conditioning Association recommends that carbohydrates make up 55% of low to moderately active individuals daily diet.

Rather than focusing purely on reducing the number of carbohydrates, most Low Carb diets are structured according to what is known as the Glycemic Index. When you don’t adequately eat enough carbohydrates for long periods of time your body suffers. Fad diets that are low in carbohydrates are no good for your body.

Plan to write down your goals and steps you need to take to lose body fat. Low carb diets are an excellent way to lose body fat.in the short term.

There is some appreciable weight loss in the first few weeks, but most people who try the diet lose interest quickly and regain the weight. Anecdotal evidence and recent studies both conclude that following a strict low-carb diet will in fact help you lose weight.

You need to understand that the only way to lose fat is to burn more calories in a day then you consume. In the 1990s, we were erroneously told that all fat was bad for us.

Just make sure you go easy on the dressing and you can have large bowls of salad and still lose weight. Most people do lose weight on low-carb diets.

Intermittent Fasting seems to help tremendously with allowing you to lose fat while preserving muscle. The point is this: if you are looking to lose weight in a hurry, eliminating carbs will accomplish the task.

Healthy Weight Loss Dieting Tips !

March 30th, 2011 6 comments

Here we are going to introduce you to few healthy weight loss dieting tips. If you are on look out not for just weight loss but rather healthy weight loss then you are on the right track – this tips should really help you.

TIP #1

First thing you should do is to drink lot of water while you are on dieting. The reason for this is that while you are on quick weight loss diet you lose lot of water instead of fat. This is an ideal weight loss technique. You aim is to lose body fat and not water. Drinking lot of water would give you an idea of what actually you are losing is body fat or water.

There are other benefits of drinking water too. Increase in intake of drinking water increases one’s metabolic rate. The rate at which body burns calories is what known as metabolism. Thus drinking lot of water helps you reduce weight through your metabolism rate. If you digestion is proper then you have less chances of gaining fat.

Some people’s obesity might be due to more retentiveness of water in their bodies. The more water you drink the lesser your body retains. Our body has the mechanism of retaining water in the body when we drink less and it expels out when we drink more.

Tip #2:

Moderate levels of exercise combined along with diet plan is a secret of good health. Hence it is not very easy to keep off the weight just by sticking to a starvation diet. You need to make sure that your daily routine has a sufficient physical activity so that you can remain fit and lean in the long term.

Walking, jogging, swimming, gardening etc are some pleasant activities which are not very tiresome and also could help you provide the amount of physical activity required for you body. These activities helps in building up the tone of your muscles and thereof minimizing the accumulation of fat in the body.

Perform any of the above mentioned activities moderately without giving much strain to your body, especially in the beginning. Keeping oneself physically active not only keeps one’s body but also mind fit. It keeps you away from diabetic and other bone related problems such as arthritis as well.

Tip #3:

The last but not least diet tip I would like to give you is to eat lot of raw fruits and vegetables which indirectly acts as source of water in your body. The good thing about them is that they have very less fat. While dieting you might be depriving your body from essential nutrients thus by increasing the intake of lot of raw fruits and vegetables you could minimize this problem to a certain extent.

Serving yourself with fresh vegetables and fruits before every meal can fill your belly that you can eat much less. The fiber present in vegetables and fruits is very good for digestion. For example when you feeling like having snacks you can munch on carrot , apple or fig instead of items which adds to your body fat without supplying any potential nutrient.

Conclusion:

Additional to the above diet tips you should remember to keep yourself away from diet pills and keep yourself away from embarking on difficult diet programs which demands you to starve yourself. They can be very bad for health because in reality most of them which show up a quick weight loss is only temporary. That is in reality only water is lost and not the real fat which your body holds. So stick to above mentioned weight loss advice.

The above 3 mentioned diet tips seem to be very simple and easy but they are very effective when it comes to lose weight in a very healthy manner and on long term basis. This tips can prevent you from any type of deficiency which you might face otherwise while taking up a difficult diet plan. It also prevents your body from losing unreasonable amount of water. Therefore it is a permanent solution and not temporary for weight loss.

Diet Tips and Myths

March 30th, 2011 3 comments

The first diet myth is that you do not have to eat too much at night because you will gain more weight. People believe that because you do not do much at night, you do not burn much of what you eat during that time. An experiment done by Dunn Nutrition Center showed that it does not matter how much you eat at night. What matters is how much food you eat in the whole day that will determine if you will really gain weight.

The second diet myth is that cholesterol is bad for you. The truth is there are good cholesterols and there are bad cholesterols. Cholesterols, just like any other fat, do not dissolve in our blood. That can be dangerous because they can clog the arteries or the passages in our hearts. The good cholesterols drive away bad cholesterols from the arteries. Instead, they displace the bad cholesterols back to the liver.

Protein is essential to build muscles in the body. Because vegetarians do not eat meat, the third diet myth states that people who are more into vegetables cannot have muscles. This is untrue because they can also get their protein fix from non-meat products such as cheese, grains and nuts.

Some smokers reason out that they do not want to gain weight that is why they do not go cold turkey. This is another diet myth. There are people who have gone cold turkey and they even lost weight. It is a well-known fact that nicotine, which is found in cigarettes, boosts a person?s metabolic capability. But it is also a well-known fact that smoking is very dangerous to our health.

Another diet myth tells that people should suppress themselves to lose weight. It is true that there are people who think that dieting is a form of punishment. This, however, is not always the case. Most diet programs tell dieters to avoid certain kinds of food, but not to stop eating altogether. There are even diet programs which boats of food that are extremely delicious you will not even think you are going on a diet.

If busting those myths are still not enough for you to not fear or question going on a diet, then here are some diet tips for you:

First tip is for you to determine what your motivation is for going on a diet. Do you just want to look stunning in a swimsuit? Do you have an ideal weight? Do you want to join a contest? Are you tired of not minding what you eat, and in turn, also your body? Your motivation shall keep you going with the diet during times when you feel like you can no longer continue the program. Another tip is for you to talk to people who are also on a diet. Share stories, tips, and recipes with each other. You can even have a friendly contest on who loses more weight after a certain period of time. Another diet tip is for you to drink plenty of water. Drinking water is very important when you are in a diet because it gives you the feeling that you are already full, and you will eat less afterwards. Drinking water also drives away the toxins from the body.
