what different types of diets do prisoners receive?

September 27th, 2012 1 comment

I know they give muslims special diets and what not. But What about people that are lactose intolerant, and what about people with IBS etc. Also if some panzy claimed to be a vegan in prison would they get a diet?

Your question needs to be narrowed to a particular prison in order to be answered. You have jails in Saudi Arabia, West Texas, New York City, San Diego and their policies are all different. You have local jails, county jails, and federal jails.

Years ago, an adherent to a Macrobiotic diet was imprisoned who was following very strict guidelines. He required pure water, not municipal water with fluoride and chlorine contaminants. The food was totally unacceptable and he was imprisoned for an indefinite period of time. Therefore, he could not eat and could not drink for an indefinite period of time in a local jail. In effect, the warden considered his refusal to eat an act of rebellion. He tried to say that he was under physician’s orders, but that did not work. He was told that he had to eat what everyone else was eating.

The prison populations had bets about when he would break his fast. Finally, after five days, the prisoner was released from jail.

I believe this to be an important issue. Prison populations are vulnerable to the caprice of officials. As a whole plant based food advocate, I drink well water from a deep well. Over an extended period of time, fluorine and chlorine compounds and other pollutants have short-term effects and can cause serious illness over a lifetime that may not be correlated with the contaminated water supply. Most Americans have significant levels of pollutants in our bodies. I avoid any food that is from a bottle, can, package, or any animal based food product. Our children represent another vulnerable population, and they receive poorly balanced diet that almost certainly prepares them for a lifetime of poor nutrition habits and eventual struggles with diabetes, cancer, and vascular diseases.

What Can I eat in college without meal plan and cooking utensils?

Hey, I’m in college and living in the dorm room. In my dorm room, there are no cooking utensils (stove etc) and I’m not going to be on the meal plan either because its 4,000 a year. I was wondering what could I eat? Not just sandwiches but like microwaveable food?

Frozen dinners if you have a freezer. Buy the top brands. Ask a clerk to show you which ones.

If you do not have a freezer, buy the precooked meats that are in sealed packages. These can be kept in the fridge (not the freezer). There is a use by date on each package. There is enough for two dinners in each package:
Roast beef with gravy;
Pot roast with gravy;
Baked ham;
Roast pork;
and lots more.
Follow microwave directions on the packages.

Canned vegetables make good side dishes.

Canned meats of all types can last on the shelf for long periods of time. Add mayo to most:
Salmon;
Tuna;
Beef;
Chicken;
Kippers;
Sardines;
Soups;
and lots more. Have a clerk show you where to find them.

Ask a clerk to show you were the Hormel Completes are. Microwave or drop the unopened packages into hot water. Good for camping too. Go here for pictures and information:

Instant oatmeal or Cream of Wheat; or boiled eggs; or cereal and milk; health bar such as Fiber One are all good for breakfast and will keep your brain working early in the morning.

Health bars are good for lunch too. In between meals too.

Should you stop a healthy eating plan when you’ve lost all your weight ?

September 27th, 2012 2 comments

If you lose weight by changing your lifestyle and just eating healthier( not dieting ) should you increase the amount of healthy foods you eat or keep your healthy eating plan the same as when you were losing weight ?

If you’ve reached your ideal weight and don’t want to lose any more, you could just eat slightly bigger portions of healthy food until your weight stabilizes.

But really, almost nobody is underweight these days, and there is evidence that underweight people age slower and live longer, so keeping to your "healthy eating plan" is probably not a bad idea.

What is the fastest over the counter diet pill?

September 27th, 2012 4 comments

Im 15, 5’1, and I weigh 104 pounds. What’s the fastest diet pill that’s less than $25? I really just wanna lose a quick 5-10 pounds. Like as fast as possible. And also diet & exercise tips? I’m willing to do whatever diet and exercise it takes, even if that means starving myself(Im pretty sure that doesn’t work) but I wanna take diet pills to speed it up.

I shouldn’t be telling this to a 15 year old especially since your the right weight and height combo to be healthy but eat cabbage soup for dinner and lunch for the next 7 days and I swear you will lose ten pounds no exercise needed! I used to have to do it when I worked at hooters. The only pills you need is beano. Cabbage gives you gas:/
