Atkins Diet Recipes: Best Low Carb BBQ Sauce

** Recipe included in my new low carb, gluten free cookbook, Low Carbing Among Friends. Please check it out at our website @ http://www.amongfriends.us **

In partnership with FaveDiets ( http://www.FaveDiets.com ) recipe site, I have been mourning the loss of all good low carb BBQ sauces, and the remainder commercial ones haven’t met any of my expectations for a rich, thick sauce. I went allrecipes.com and tried a few of them there — converting them to low carb. I came up with one that met all my requirements, and it worked great for my New Year’s Eve appetizer and slow cooked BBQ ribs.

Low Carb BBQ Sauce
(derived from Big Al’s K.C. Bar-B-Q Sauce Recipe – Allrecipes.com)

* 1 cup Low Carb Ketchup (either Heinz or Linda’s “Better Than Heinz” Recipe – http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/evenbetter_heinz_ketchup.html)
* 1 cup tomato sauce
* 1/2 cup Splenda or liquid equivalent (preferred)
* 1/2 cup vinegar
* 1/4 cup unsulfured molasses
* 2 teaspoons liquid smoke
* 1 tablespoons butter
* 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
* 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
* 1/2 teaspoon paprika
* Dash of chili powder
* Dash ground cinnamon
* 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
* 1/2 teaspoon salt
* 1/2 teaspoon coarsely ground black pepper

Makes ~3 Cups of BBQ (approximately 48 1TBS Servings at 2g net carbs per Tablespoons)

    Mine typically …
    Mine typically lasts 1-2 weeks in my fridge, but I am sure it could last longer. ? The only reason mine disappears so fast is because I end up using it for everything.

    I just made 3? portions of this recipe tonight for the first time. The BBQ sauce was amazing. Thanks for sharing this recipe with us. I think I made a little too much, how long do you think I can keep this for in a air-tight container?

    You don’t go into “ketoacidosis” with the Atkins. You go into “ketosis”. Big difference.? 🙂

    There is no …
    There is no recorded incident of non-diabetic on Atkins Diet going into ketoacidosis. Ketosis and ketoacidosis are two completely different things in orders of magnitudes different, i,e, the difference between a surfing wave and tsunami. 9 years of low carbing later, my kidneys are just fine based upon every blood test and? annual physical I have had.

    You are half right. You are a troll, just an uninformed, biased one.

    You people don’t? …
    You people don’t? know the harm of Atkins diet. Follow it if you want to get ketoacidosis and ruin your kidney! I maybe trolling but what I am saying has a lot of truth.

    The BBQ sauce will …
    The BBQ sauce will last at least 2 weeks in the fridge perhaps longer. Just keep it in an airtight container, but it’s lasted for 2 weeks in mine. I am glad you liked them so well. I love? hearing that kind of feedback.

    Thank you for the compliment. I may be biased, but I haven’t found a commercial low carb? BBQ sauce that comes close yet. I always appreciate this type of feedback. Have a great New year!

    I made this …
    I made this yesterday for meatballs. My dad who loves to barbecue, said he could drink this sauce. Trust me, that was a great compliment. ? I made Lindas Ketchup recipe and then followed yours. This is going to be a great addition to my low carb diet. I have been on it since July and have lost 30 pounds. Let’s hope this new year finds me at my goal.

    I have made a video …
    I have made a video on this topic, but honestly the danger of sodium has been overblown for most people. For myself especially, my blood pressure since starting Atkins and running is on the low side if anything. (95-105/60) If you are sensitive to sodium,? then obviously bear that in mind with my recipes.

    The only thing in the recipe not IF is the molasses. It should be fine in smaller quantities. ? In the future, just leave the molasses out.

    Thanks Kent! Yeah i did look there but they didn’t have the kind? you recommended and the others were not too carb friendly

    On another note….I messaged you on facebook bro, but you never messaged me back! I know you’re busy though, but I’m back on track again for the first time in forever and I wanted my guru to know 🙂

    Just eliminate it. …
    Just eliminate it. It’ll be in the baked goods aisle near the corn syrup usually. It helps with the stickiness of the sauce, but it is fine without? it.
