What effect would cutting out diet soda and replacing it with water have on my body?

I tend to drink a lot of diet coke, for the past few days, I’ve stopped drinking it and replaced all of my drinks with water. I know that diet coke has no calories, but will I lose some weight?

You might, but you might not.

Water is much better for you than pop, and you’re not taking in large amounts of artificial sweeteners. You’ll be much more hydrated, and you’ll feel better.

Some people have different reactions to different artificial sweeteners. I used to drink the clear fruit-flavored pop from Wal-Mart (I think it was like Clear American or Sam’s Choice or something). I would get wicked headaches from drinking it. I would literally have a headache for the entire day. My Mom would get horrible leg cramps from it, too. As soon as she cut that out, then the cramps stopped. I stopped drinking that, but I still drink diet pop. I don’t drink it to the same extent.

As for actually losing weight, you might. Your body sometimes confuses the thirst signal for the hunger signal, and if you’re drinking Diet Coke, it isn’t going to be as hydrating as water. (Diet Coke contains sodium– salt. Salt is dehydrating…) So, you are doing a good thing by replacing most of your pop intake with water.

This isn’t to say you can’t drink pop, but make it more of an occasional thing than an every day thing.

Im not sure if diet coke would have the same effect as water, but water definitly keeps the weight down. I never used to drink water and now I drink like 5 glasses a day and I lost 4-6 pounds. I used to gain weight so easily. Drink as much water as you possibly can.
