How much water should you drink a day dieting?
I know you should drink water no matter if your dieting or not. Because water helps: hydrate, get rid of pollutants and breakdown fat cells. But how much should I be drinking a day? Someone said you should be drinking half your body weight. Is that true and does it matter if you add something like crystal light to it?
Six to eight- 8 ounce glasses of liquids daily is recommend whether trying to lose weight or not. Any liquid, other than alcohol will work, but water is best. If you drank half of your body weigh, it would probably kill you.

As much as you can. I drank a minimum of 10 glasses a day when I was losing weight. It fills you up so your not hungry and it helps speed up your metabolism.

Water makes up more than two-thirds of the weight of the human body. Without water, humans would die in a few days. All the cells and organs need water to function.

1 ounce per body weight is needed for optimum health and vitality. This also depends on what type of water you are drinking. Distilled and reverse osmosis water are "dead" water, meaning that they don’t contain any of the minerals or electrolytes that your body needs. Thus they are very acidic in pH scale around pH 4 and also very oxidant (aging). If you drink too much of this type of water, you are depleting your body from essential minerals such as calcium, potassium, magnesium and sodium. So it can actually be dangerous to drink this type of water.
However, if you drink water full of electrically charged ionic minerals that contain these essential minerals such as natural spring water directly from its source (not bottled water) or alkaline ionized water, then naturally 1 ounce per body weight is preferred.
The only way your body to get rid of excess fat and toxins on daily basis in your body is through your liver. And that’s why optimally it requires 1 ounce of water per body weight.
However, we talked about optimum level so far. Other two common scenarios are "survival" and point of "dehydration".
In a survival situation, even a cup of water can be enough. To prevent dehydration though, you need to put more water in your body than the amount that goes out through urine and sweat. And this depends on the metabolism, weight and level of activity at that time. This is usually half an ounce per body weight for a low to moderate activity level.
