I’ve heard from some people that you should avoid eating grains when dieting. Why is that?

They have more starch which means more carbs… though carbs are good for you too much can make you gain weight. You dont have to completely cut it from your diet but you dont want to live off of them either… a healthy balance should be good for anyone 🙂 hope i helped 🙂

    you shouldn’t.
well, you should avoid white bread and such, but whole grain bread and wheat pasta is good for you!
the reason white bread/grains is bad is because it’s essentially empty calories, meaning for the amount of calories there are, there’s very little nutritional value.

    no no no!
avoid eating TOO MANY grains, as it means too much bread/pasta/etc which means too many calories, which leads to weight gain, etc.
I avoided bread, pasta, rice, etc for a few weeks, and my performance during cross country practice went down so much that my coach mentioned it to me! i was so lack of energy, and i was never satisfied!
then when i went back to eating these foods i practically binged on them! your body NEEDS carbs for energy and to function properly! dont eat like a loaf of bread every day, but don’t cut them out completely!!
have like oatmeal for breakfast, 2 slices of whole grain bread at lunch, and like 1/2 cup of brown rice for dinner. maybe throw in some crackers for a snack if youre really active!
    good luck dieting!

NO. You should not AVOID grains. Totally cutting out grains gives an imbalanced unhealthy diet. You do need to practice portion control. Plus not all are the same. You want to avoid white flour things because they are just empty calories with no real nutrition. Whole grains like oatmeal, whole wheat bread, and brown rice are much better. It has fiber and more nutrition.

Try dividing you plate into quarters. First fill half with fruits and veggies, The other quarters are for the lean protein and whole grain carb. This will help limit your calories and ensure you get plenty of fruits and veggies in a balanced diet.
