Will a detoxing diet help you lose fat or just water weight?

If i go on a detoxing diet, i want to lose fat. So i will be working out for atleast an hour a day too. Detoxing diets seems like it only helps you lose water weight.

If you want to lose fat, why detox? Detox doesn’t work, never worked, is not possible, and never has been possible. You can lose fat simply by eating a healthy diet and cutting portions to create a caloric deficit. The detox myth is not about fat, it’s about some silly idea that you can purify your body.

There is no diet which will cause your body to get rid of toxins, heavy metals, poisonous by-products from smoking, drugs, etc. And cleanses for the purpose of weight loss don’t work because they can only eliminate water and small amounts of waste which the body will replace very quickly.

Check out the following references because you’ve probably been getting your information from unreliable sources.

"A day on a detox diet program probably won’t hurt you, but there’s little point in following these restrictive diets – and they can do far more harm than good, says Michelle May, MD,"

"Detox diets are a waste of time and money, say scientists"

"The human body can defend itself very
well against most environmental insults and the effects of occasional indulgence. If you’re generally healthy, stick to giving your body what it needs to maintain its own detox system— a healthful diet, adequate fluid intake, regular exercise, sufficient sleep, and all recommended medical check-ups. Don’t waste your money…follow a healthy, balanced lifestyle instead."

You can find your own links debunking the detox diets, master cleanses, and other such nonsense by Googling "detox diet myth" or searching USA.gov for your appropriate key words.

The way to detox is to stop ingesting toxins and let your body cleanse itself naturally. If you have, for example, THC in your blood from smoking pot, there is no food, no flush, no purge, no cleanse that will make it go away. Your body will metabolize and excrete it naturally given sufficient time. The best diet for all normal adults hasn’t changed. It is still a varied, balanced, nutritious, and properly apportioned diet of high quality foods. Forget detox. If you want to burn fat, do this.

Eat a diet of varied, wholesome, and high quality foods such that your daily caloric intake is about 500 calories less than your daily caloric burn while keeping your macronutrient ratios at about 55/25/20 (%calories from carbs/fats/protein) and not doing anything to defeat the foregoing plan such as taking supplements, drinking alcohol, abusing drugs, using cleanses or emetics, etc. That’s it. It’s that simple.

Here’s the only two websites you need to do that.
1. This site has a wide range of information about foods, fat, diets, and exercise with calculators, diet tips, food facts, etc. —> http://www.freedieting.com/

2. This website is a great way to track calories, macronutrients, water, and exercise. It also does all the math for you and makes it super easy to look up foods to enter into your online food intake diary. There’s a discussion forum where you can exchange info with thousands of other dieters. —>http://www.myfitnesspal.com/

drink a lot of lemon water with real lemons and splenda to sweeten. walking a mile or so twice a day helps too. stay away from pop and cut carbs in half.
