What does "eating healthy" or "healthy eating" actually mean?

Please break it down for me, tell me all about it. Because some people will say I eat healthy when in reality they eat healthy foods occasionally. And what about indulging. If you indulge does it mean you don’t eat healthy? How much should you indulge? What does it mean when a person says I eat healthy? OR when a person says healthy eating is important.

Eating healthy means you eat in a way that promotes good health, such as having a balanced diet of nutritious foods eaten in moderation. This doesnt mean you never eat anything that isnt totally good for you, because practicing moderation and portion control is also part of ‘eating healthy’.
If someone treats themselves to a couple of cookies every now and then, but still sticks to a healthy diet i would still say thats healthy. Because indulging in a treat on occasion isnt the problem, its OVER indulging that is unhealthy. So a cookie can be part of a healthy diet, you just can’t sit and eat the whole bag and make a meal out of it.

Eating healthy suggests that you feed your body what it needs to survive and make spare parts.

The reason why America is full of big fat slobs is because we’ve been sold 100 years of junk food – like breakfast cereal which advertisers tell us is "healthy"… it’s not. Bread, rice, pasta, cereal are all sugar – they’re "highly glycemic" which means they turn to sugar instantly in the blood. This causes you to produce HUGE amounts of insulin which changes this to lard to stick on your rear end.

The trick is to eat the real monster nutrients instead of empty carbs like cereal and bread. Cabbage, kale, broccoli are a few cruciferous vegetables. They’re filled with nutrients your body needs – not just sugar.

Beans, peas, lentils…. cheapest stuff in the store – it a MONSTER nutritious food.

A little meat – a little fruit… some nuts, berries and seeds… and you have an actual diet and not just junk food.

basically eat a balanced diet like large portions of carbohydrates this would include foods like: rice, bread, lentils and spaghetti etc, a large portion of fruit and veg etc, a reasonable amount of dairy products like, milk, cheese, yoghurt etc, a reasonable amount of foods like, fish and meat etc and lastly a small amount of sugary foods etc. if someone says you eat healthy then you are, indulging can mean you are eating the unhealthy foods or you are eating the right stuff.

basically look at what you eat and think about what are healthy foods for you

    hope this helped!
