what are some good tips for meal planning?
I’m trying to reorganize my kitchen, so I actually can inventory what I have, and I need help with meal planning. Does anyone have any apps they can recommend or some techniques that help with a weekly meal plan? Thank you!
Family meal planning is a wonderful technique that you can utilize and modify to fit your families needs. The idea behind this is simple. The principle of family meal planning is set up so that you cook and or prepare your meals ahead of time and then preserve them by either freezing or refrigerating them. Also, with family meal planning you can cook one large meal and get 2-3 other meals out of it!

Try to plan meals based on a balanced diet and the food pyramid. If you are just planning dinner, then aim for dinner to have:
2 grain servings
1 dairy serving
1 vegetable serving
1-2 protein servings
Write down what you have and sit there and try to plan out a meal that follows those guidelines. Use what is oldest in your pantry first. Eventually you should use up what you have and then be able to go food shopping and by foods based on the meals you want to make that week.

If you want to take an inventory based on the foods available on your kitchen, try to sort them according to their nutritional value, Getting effective in Inventory will get you in shape with your diet. besides, food pyramid is not recommended for now .
