What are some diets and workouts that work?

February 20th, 2013 3 comments

I need to lose weight but it’s hard when you don’t know any diets or workouts that work. I don’t eat a lot and I do go to the gym but I need a diet and workout that helped people lose weight., thanks in advance!

I have read good things about the paleo diet (caveman diet), but you have to have a strong enough will power to do it. Also with that diet you have to really watch everything you eat to make sure you are getting enough vitamins.

I don’t use this diet though, I just eat healthy, but I have no "forbidden" foods. It is easier to stick with a diet when you don’t feel like you can’t eat your favourite foods. I still have ice cream and sweets, but in moderation.

you should also make sure you are getting enough calories, to few calories an cause weight gain because your body thinks it is starving and will store anything you eat as fat.

Drink lots of water. No more pop if you are serious about losing weight fast.

For working out, anything that gets your heart rate up is good. Some people can handle the mundane running on a treadmill, or running out side. Others prefer more engaging activities like zumba or boxing. Try a few different thing to see what you like.

Don’t forget to do weight training. Big muscles increase metabolism.

Good luck!

What should i feed my dog since i want to stop using commercial food?

February 14th, 2013 11 comments

I have a bichon and she is older I want to stop using her commercial food because i no longer trust it event tho they say its safe does anyone know of good diets and recipes for dogs I want to keep her healthy and full of the nutrients she needs thnks….

Making your own food is VERY time consuming and you should take her to the vet more often to make sure she is getting all the nutrients. I tryed this and my vet just told me to stop because there was always something wrong and my dog wasnt getting what he really needed.

So I looked on Y!A and found out about some REALLY good dog food. Theres IS good dog food outthere with NO wheat gluten (which is why there was a recall) no fillers, by products or corn.

Chicken Soup for the Pet Lovers Soul:

and if you REALLY want to go organic:
TimberWolf Organics:

(You can put chicken and cooked meat in there with the food)

Just look through some of those and see which one you can find near you and which is good on your wallet. Making your own dog is can be expensive and you can really be putting your dogs health at risk. These foods have NO WHEAT so they will never be on the recall as they are with their own company.

Hope this helps

I’m pregnant and need cheap & healthy recipes or meal ideas for myself and fiancee. We have $150 for groceries?

February 12th, 2013 7 comments

I’m almost 2 months pregnant and my fiancee and I are on a really tight budget with planning a wedding and getting ready for a baby. I’m latin so I cook with lots of rice and chicken, but wanted some more ideas on cheap foods since my soon to be hubby is caucasian and wanted to cook traditional american meals for him too. I’m trying to include more fruit and vegetables in our diets too. Any recipes to share? Thanks
$150 for the month

Hi Jessenia

Have a look at the site below which is being developed with budget cooking in mind. The idea is that you cook a main meal and then cook an entirely new meal from the leftovers. This way you save on time and money.

The November Meal Plan is now available and is designed with the seasons mind – so lots of Butternut Squash recipes! Also lots of Healthy Thanksgiving Recipes.

There are also freezer ideas so that as you get close to having your baby, you can stock up the freezer with meals.

Hope that you get some inspiration and good luck on your precious journey.

Does the south beach diet recipes book work?

January 29th, 2013 1 comment

I’m thinking of buying it… but I want to make sure it works because I’ve tried lots of other diet books an they didn’t really help.

i have just started this diet i have lost 3lbs in 2 days, which compared to other diets is quite alot, it says in the book that if you gain weight around your midrift the most, then this is the best kind of diet for you, because those are the people that loose weight fastest.

i thought it was a good idea to do this as, because like everyone, i wanted a quick fix and this seems like the answer haha but i also noticed that it eases you back into a healthy eating plan, which is good for me, i eat relatively healthy anyway, i just put weight on over christmas and because i am in a new relationship and eat out alot, also i have a major chocolate habbit haha

but im hoping this will work, you can download the book on the internet if you are worried about it being another fad diet that way you wont have wasted money, you can download it from any torrent site, type south beach diet torrent…. thats how i got the book.

and the majority of meals are lovely and tastey aswell

i always find aswell if im craving something to just have a taster of it, because if i just have a cube of chocolate as soon as i fancy it, i wont end up eating an entire bar after stopping myself for two days haha

i hope this helps, i cant believe nobody else replyed???

How does a cheat day "work" on a diet without sabotaging one’s hard work?

January 25th, 2013 1 comment

I am trying to lose weight but I am very hungry. I’m lowering my calorie intake by 500 calories a day which will only lose me one pound a week by diet alone. I am also exercising which is increasing my hunger. Needless to say I look forward to my cheat day. All the different diets and theories differ but seem to agree that you are to splurge on your cheat day. However, mathematically speaking, the extra calories sabotage what I’ve worked towards all week.

Please help me to understand……

The reason you are hungry is because your body is used to the lifestyle and caloric intake you have past established, and you are restricting and depriving yourself so much all at once. Gradual change, such as changing your diet to clean and healthy foods (lots of fruits and veggies, lean protein, complex carbs, minimally processed), and getting some sort of exercise everyday is a good start. Once you are used to that, you can start counting calories and doing specific training.

When counting calories, first you need to calculate your BMR (Basic Metabolic Rate) which is how many calories your body burns just from being alive and needs to function. The formula is this:

Women: BMR = 655 + ( 4.35 x weight in pounds ) + ( 4.7 x height in inches ) – ( 4.7 x age in years )
Men: BMR = 66 + ( 6.23 x weight in pounds ) + ( 12.7 x height in inches ) – ( 6.8 x age in year )

Once you figure this out, you can coordinate your caloric intake and exercise routine.
Say your BMR is 1,500. You could eat 2,000 a day and burn 500 in exercise.

A cheat day is good way to give yourself a break. You can still eat your favorite foods on this day, but the key is portion sizing so you don’t cancel everything out/ Don’t obsess over it; just read the label and keep in mind and don’t eat an entire box of cookies. Moderation is key.

What are some diets where you can lose weight fast?

January 17th, 2013 5 comments

I really want to lose weight and i want to find a diet where i can lose weight fast but not starve my self or take any medications.. does anyone know any diets like that?

Basically low-carbs. I started a new program one week ago and I’m down 10 pounds – could be mostly water weight but I’ll take anything and it’s working great and I’m not hungry like I thought I would be.
I eliminated starches such as pasta, bread, potatoes and I’m only eating meats (fish/chicken), eggs, fruits, veggies and nuts. Eliminate diet sodas and sugars! This is all in Phase 1 of my new diet and then in Phase 2 you’re allowed one or two meals per week that allow you to eat whatever you want such as chocolate cake or pizza… You should consult a physician before you do anything since everyone is different but eliminating trigger foods for me has been successful. I’ve done other programs that made you track what you ate and calculate calories – they worked but it wasn’t a long-term solution. So far I’m eating better and I haven’t been hungry all week. Drink water and you can have unsweetened iced tea or coffee – try to limit dairy as well.

So far I’m loving it and I’m hopeful that this will work well for me!

How do u motivate yourself to stay on a diet?

January 7th, 2013 17 comments

I can usually go on diets easily, but the thing is its hard for me to stay on them. They usually ony last from one -two weeks.

Why not combine diet and workout together. You do not have to burn your fat in the gym, you can find work to do around the house, yards or other out door projects.

Such as …..

Something to do with landscaping, you move a lots of dirt, rocks etc. The results will be so quick and pleasant than just set there and thinking about the cherry pie or ice cream on top of fresh made hot apple pie …..

I am on a diet I am getting married in a year and a half I want to lose 40 lbs what are some good diet foods, recipes, snacks, etc? Should I have 3 meals a day or 5? I have heard so many different answers.

Hi Julia, there are so many types of diets you can choose from but my girlfriend tried a diet that she got on Amazon, it’s all about the RIGHT water consumption and what food to eat. The author is a nutritionist so It’s very informational and my gf lost lots of pounds and still continues to take this diet till now. You may want to try it too! try to search it on Amazon, the book’s title is "Drowning in 8 Glasses: 7 Myths about Water Revealed"

Hope I helped 🙂

How can I keep myself motivated on my diet?

January 1st, 2013 4 comments

I started a diet yesterday but the only thing I wanted was girl scout cookies. I ate the entire box. It seems like i eat worse on diets than off.

don’t think about the diet while you’re doing it. just tell yourself you’ll have a cookie later, and later.. trick the mind into thinking you’re going to treat yourself with a cookie later on. this trick works wonders.
you should also get rid of all junk, boxed, and processed foods from your house. plenty of water, natural fruits, veggies, meats, and whole grains shouild rule your kitchen.
