How long do you need to be on the Adkins diet before your metabolism responds?

January 13th, 2013 4 comments

I have been on this diet for 2 weeks and have already lost 8lbs. But my metabolism has come to a complete hault. Are there any foods that I can have to help without going off of my diet?

A quick fix to the halt, would be to to increase your exercise to speed up your cardiovascular system. That way your metabolism will increase, and you will continue to lose weight on your diet.

What is the best way to speed up weight loss during fasting?

January 7th, 2013 8 comments

I am aware that weight may be gained back after fasting ceases and that it may be very unhealthy for such quick weight loss, but I really need to know this information. Please, no criticism or instructions towards a "healthy diet".
Thanks.

You may want to take mineral supplementation. Fasting is actually healthy and a lot of people do it regularly as a great way to detox, so the implication it wouldn’t be shows you have been misinformed and given a bunch of fluff. Assuming you have enough fat stored to burn up as energy, you should know that the only thing stopping your body from using it is the fact it lacks the right nutrients or catalysts to get that process going. Minerals have no calories so you can actually fast while supplementing yourself and you would still be technically fasting.

High water consumption during fasting is essential. It takes 20 molecules of water to burn down 1 molecule of fat, that having been said, high water consumption may deplete you of minerals since you will be peeing a lot and again this is where minerals become important again.

Taking some vitamins such as vitamin C which is a known diuretic wouldn’t be such a bad idea either. If you supplement yourself well enough chances are you will feel more energized and you will have plenty of energy to exercise and get your metabolism going so you’ll burn all the fat, assuming the purpose of the fasting is weight loss.

Hope this helped

January 5th, 2013 3 comments

I’ve been doing the ‘elimination diet’ for two weeks and i’ve lost ten pounds, but i regret doing it as i’m sure it’s messed up my metabolism and I now know it was stupid. But instead of telling me how stupid I am, please can someone tell me what i can do not to put it all back on again? And maybe sugget a better diet? Thanks!

No matter how hard you try your weight will eventually go back on after such extreme dieting! Sorry!

How to properly do a water diet?

January 3rd, 2013 4 comments

I really wanna try the water diet, but I’m not sure how to do it the right way. I’d appreciate any information about the water diet and some tips on how to lose weight fast.

Ps. This is like my only option right now when I workout I get migraines that literally take me out all day, and diets haven’t been working and I need to lose weight ASAP.

Also I’ve already heard all the negative/bad things about this diet, but I’m still willing to try it.

Don’t do a water diet. It’ll kill your metabolism.

Go for a low carb/high fat diet instead. I’ve lost 20kg (44lb) in 4 months.

You should eat plenty of non-starchy vegetables – green beans, broccoli, brussel sprouts, cucumbers, lettuce, cauliflower, asparagus, carrots, etc. Ten serves per day.

You should also eat adequate protein and good fats – grass fed meat, fish, nuts & seeds.

You should NOT eat any sugars or starchy foods – potatoes, rice, bread, wheat, flour, pasta, etc. This is a totally DO NOT EAT.

If you can do this diet you can eat as much of it as you want. You’re very unlikely to be able to eat too many calories. You will have an abundance of nutrients. And you will feel full and you will lose weight in the fastest way possible.

What is the best weight loss supplement?

December 18th, 2012 11 comments

I am aware that the best one would be exercise. I want to supplement my diet which is controlled. I want to take whatever vitamins and herbs will help me achieve the last weight loss of 10 lbs. I gained it after a hysterectomy a year ago- and it’s hanging on.

In my opinion, it is Resveratrol Select.

*Stuffed with tons of resveratrol (one capsule = 200 glasses of red wine)
*Also contains green tea extract, which has two more weight loss compounds in it
*Also contains chromium, which enhances metabolism

Best part is, they’ll give you a free trial offer.

How do I break through a weight loss plateau?

December 6th, 2012 2 comments

I’m having some issues with a plateau I’ve hit. I can’t seam to break through it. My weight loss was going great but now I’m stuck. I’ve already lost about 20 lbs but the last 10 are just stubborn. Any tips?

This is a problem that many people come across when they’re trying to lose weight. Whenever you hit a weight loss plateau, this is a sign that your body has acclimated to your diet and/or exercise routine.

This is a problem that many people come across with dieting and weight loss. Whenever you start to plateau it’s a sign that your body has acclimated to your diet and exercise routine.

Essentially your body is burning calories more efficiently. In order to break through a weight loss plateau you need to change things up. An example would be try increasing your intensity levels when you workout. For your diet you could try going on a low carb diet for 2 weeks then go back to your regular diet.

Anyone who is trying to lose weight will eventually hit a weight loss plateau if they aren’t changing up the things they are doing.

I’ll leave you some ehow links below that talk about weight loss plateaus and how you can speed up your metabolism.

Hope that helps and good luck.

What diet tips have really worked for you?

November 16th, 2012 8 comments

I have tried every diet book out there. So far, the only thing that’s worked for me is a raw diet but I never can stick to it for long!

I still eat everything but in moderation and I count the calories that I take to know if I should stop eating for the day because I’m in a 1,000calorie diet, but in that everything I avoid junk foods like chips which I crave for and sweets because they have lots of calories but sometimes maybe once/twice a month its not bad to satisfy your craving, satisfy ok not to be gluttonous for a day and since dieting makes your metabolism slow I also do exercise like jumping rope.
p.s dont eat much carbs I’m Asian and one of our staple foods is rice so in a meal I ate half a rice and dont forget your water.

Would I gain weight if i start eating normally after dieting?

November 6th, 2012 6 comments

So I’ve been doing an hour exercise each day and dieting, after I lose the desired amount of weight I want would I gain weight if I start eating normally again? btw I’ll still do 30 minutes exercise each day after dieting.
By eating normally I don’t mean eating unhealthy food like pizza, burgers, fries etc but just eating in normal portions instead of dieting.

Hey, this depends to some extent on how much you have been eating on your diet.

If you have been eating under 1200 calories a day then it is very likely that you will gain the weight back, as cutting your calories this low will have slowed your metabolism.

However if you have been eating 1200-1600 calories (or above), then you have probably managed to keep your metabolism up in which case you will not gain weight if you start eating a bit more.

It is a good idea to increase your calories gradually, maybe by 100 cals a week. This should help you to keep the weight off.
