What is more important for weight loss – diet or exercise?

I know the combination is important. But for weight loss – if you don’t change your eating habits at all, but start exercising, the speed of the weight loss is much slower then when you’re dieting, but not exercising at all. This leads me o believe that diet is more important…What do you think?

Diet is much more important.

Running for half an hour will burn about 300 calories- that’s a mars bar, why not just not eat the mars bar?

The best combination is a diet with lots of exercise, for weight loss and overall fitness.

    I think diet is !
Because if you like eating all the right things..you’ll lose the pounds but slower.
If you just eat whatever you want + exercise.. you’ll maintain your weight but not lose it !

Bodies are made 70% in the kitchen 😉

excersise is the best way, people think "oh no i ate to much Calories im going to get fat!" false, Calories is energy, you can eat anything as long as you excersise, the more you eat the more excersise you need 🙂

    whichever is harder for you.

exercise is easier for me, but discipline, slowing down, or paying attention to what i’m eating is harder for me.

They’re both important. For the average sedentary American, I think the exercise is more important for overall health. The weight loss will just happen as a nice side effect. Work out to feel good and pay attention to your eating habits and it will just come off.

    Hi Navi,

The two are important and i think discipline has a major role in reducing unwanted weight. One need to deny himself or herself all those fatty food that contributes excess weight.

    Take care
