What is the best type of fruit to eat for weight loss?

What is the best type of fruit to eat for weight loss? I want something low calorie and healthy (obviously).

Right now I have been having an organic fuji apple after my workouts. Is that a good choice? Or would it be better to have an orange, pear, etc.? I heard from someone that apples are bad because of high sugar content. Is that true?

Thanks!

Apples or grapefruit are the best for weight loss, just pair them with something else (apple and 1 TBS almond butter, grapefruit and egg whites)

If you are going to eat fruits, those are probably the best. For weight loss though, it is best to limit fruits altogether. Carbs and sugar are a girl’s biggest problem! I notice that whenever I want to lose weight, I stick to fresh veggies and beans (beans & greens!)

I take out carbs, dairy and sugar when I diet. This could include egg whites with broccoli for breakfast, a garden salad with beans for lunch, and a piece of lean meat or fish with lots of veggies for dinner. Don’t forget to add a little fat, like 1/2 avocado or 1 TBS olive oil with your salad or 1 TBS almond butter on celery for a snack (just keep these limited).

That would be your best bet rather than relying on fruit for weight loss. Once you are at the point you want to be, you can incorporate other foods into your diet (within your calorie range) to maintain your weight.

Best of luck!

The Glycemic Index (GI) can help you choose which fruits are "better" than others.

Apples are NOT bad for weight loss because they’re not too high on the GI and they also have fiber.

You need to be careful with citrus fruits because they DO have a lot of sugar in them — a lot more than you’d think (they’re actually some of the highest-GI fruits).

Pears and cherries are good because they’re low-GI foods. Ditto that for any type of fruit that ends in "berry." In fact, the vast majority of recipes for weight-loss smoothies have some type of berries in them. Frozen berries work just fine as long as they don’t have any sugar added.

P.S.: Fruit juice should be avoided whenever possible, even if it’s 100% fruit juice, because the juicing process strips out a lot of the nutrients and concentrates the sugars (fruit juices are all much higher on the GI than the fruits themselves).

No fruit is actually great for weight loss. But Apples can be a good as part of certain diets. The problem is all that sugar but the pectin is good for you. It speeds up your bowels and has a way of moving your digestive system, however all that sugar works against you.

Because you are working out and burning calories an apple a day might be great. For other people on diets who may go for short walks but don’t burn any really substantial calories in a hard workout it would be better to avoid all fruit.

Its the carbs. Try and stay off carbs when you are dieting and you will lose much more. Don’t eat more than 20 per day. The sugar opens the floodgates to insulin which puts your body on high alert to try and get the sugar out of your bloodstream and turns it into fat in the cells. Carbs are what is making Americans fat and giving everyone diabetes. The food pyramid is a lie and should be turned upside down and the Gov knows it. The food pyramid is more of a geopolitical creation rather than a healthy eating creation. When you reach your weight goal then have a small amount of whatever fruit you want but make it small.
